Certificate in General Education

Program Description

The Certificate of General Education is awarded to matriculated Sacramento State students upon their completion of 34 units, which must include completion of the lower division CSU General Education pattern. The GE Certificate marks the achievement of Sacramento State students' completion of a general education program of study.  Lower division GE courses in the Certificate Program in general do not have prerequisites.

Admission Requirements

All Sacramento State students are automatically considered for the GE Certificate and do not need to complete an application.

Program Requirements

Completion of 34 units with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Completion of the CSU Lower Division General Education pattern, as defined by the catalog year of the student with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

18 of the 34 units must be completed in residence as a matriculated Sacramento State student. The Sacramento State GPA must be 2.0 or higher.
