Reading and Literacy Leadership Specialist Credential

Program Description

The Language and Literacy Leadership Specialist Credential is administered by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). California State University, Sacramento, is accredited by the CCTC to award this credential to students meeting program requirements. The credential is required to practice as a reading specialist in the state of California.

Unique strengths of the program include supervised training in a clinic setting, field experience that includes field placement in public school settings, and instruction by faculty who hold language and literacy degrees.

Students pursuing this Credential will have applied to the MA in Language and Literacy, and will follow the same course requirements, with the exception of EDLL 250 and EDLL 503

At completion of all requirements, the student can be recommended to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the credential.
