Program Description
The Public Health minor at Sacramento State provides students with a strong foundation in the principles and practices that shape population health. Students gain interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills that help them understand and address complex health challenges at local, national, and global levels.
Students can expect to be involved in coursework across the core areas of Public Health practice, such as epidemiology, illness/ injury causes and prevention, health service administration, and other personal, occupational, and community health and safety issues.
Undergraduate students in any discipline can choose this minor as part of their curriculum. Graduates with a Public Health minor will be prepared for entry-level positions in health-related organizations, community-based programs, nonprofit agencies, and government sectors, as well as for advanced study in public health and related disciplines.
Students should check the Department website for requirements and speak with the Public Health academic advisor to help with their academic plans.
Admission Requirements
Students need to have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher and be in good academic standing to declare the Minor.
Minimum Grade Requirement
All minor courses must be completed with at least a "C" grade.
Program Requirements
Students must complete 3 units of lower-division coursework and 12 units of upper division coursework to complete the minor.
